Blog Posts I Have Done Over The Years

Today, in our maths, Miss McCombie wanted us to make a chart on google sheets on the amount of blog post we have done throughout the years. I started 2018, so I used the data from 2018-2020. I think this is a cool idea as you can compare which months you were blogging the most and if you have increased your blogging throughout the years. The biggest amount of blogging I did, was this year in April and March, which was right when we were in lockdown. In the whole year, I did 64 in 2018, 89 in 2019 and 136 in 2020 (remembering that the year is not over). Altogether that is a total of 289 blog posts!

This activity did not take long at all. What month have you done the most blog posts?

Our Trip Skiing

On Monday, the whole senior syndicate went up to Porters Heights to go skiing for the day. This was our 3rd time lucky as the past two times we were going to go up, it got cancelled, either from the weather or Covid.  This is a slideshow telling you all about what I did up there. Have you been skiing with school before? Did you enjoy it? Where did you go skiing?

Inserting A Chart Onto Google Sheets

Today in our Maths, Miss McCombie got us to make a screencastify on how to insert a chart onto a google sheet as we have been learning strand. I already knew how to do this, so I got into my screencastify straight away.  I made sure that the video was under 3 minutes so that it still stayed interesting.  Did you know how to do this? Will you use this skill in future?

Summarising In 5 Minutes Or Less

Another reading task, that I only just realised we had to do was, to create a step by step process on summarising. To make sure everyone knew what summarising was, we had to watch a video first showing us a method of a good way to summarise. From that video, I learnt a lot, so I decided to do a video as well, but on screencastify. When you get to be on video, you usually forget all what you are about to say, so I quickly wrote some of it down on a google drawing to help me. This task did not take me long, which was good, but I did learn quite a lot from it. Usually when I summarise, I do it in maybe 100 words or more! So this was a perfect task for me. Are you good at summarising? How many words does it usually take you?

In Depth

For our reading this week, we had to watch a video on pepeha, do a worksheet and then from that information we had learnt create our pepeha and display it. In the past we have done other activities also on our pepeha, but our teacher wanted us to do it again to get it sunken into our brain. What I have found when doing my pepeha, is that everytime, I go into more depth and learn something new, like this time, I learnt my name, my Mum's name and my Dad's name in te reo, last time, I learnt my river in te reo.

Down below is a screencastify of my pepeha, my pepeha and the worksheet we did for our pepeha. Do you know your pepeha?

Kupu

Did you know that this week is Te Wiki O Te Reo language week?

So just before doing our writing, Miss McCombie showed us Kupu, which is a site that turns your English name into a Maori name. You can also get the app Kupu, where you take a photo, then it will translate it into Maori. Down below are some examples of names I translated. I also have the link right here if you want to try your name out.

He aha tou ingoa? - What is your name?

"Losing"

In our Tuesday reading session, Mrs North got some questions for us to answer. Our goal for this week was to do full sentence answers and for next time, not write out the question. Instead of discussing it as a group first we did the questions then discussed it second. The titles of this post was the title of chapter 25, that we having been focusing on. I chose my ending of how I think it should have ended, a little cliffhanger. Have you ever had to write your own ending for a book before?
