Life At Below Zero

For our maths textbook, we had to do a writing piece of what we think about living life in temperatures below zero. I wrote how I would not like it because it is cold and you can not do much. Take a look.
What do you think about life at below zero?

Average Smile - Maths Challenge

For our Maths Challenge this week, we had to do work on Median, Mean and Average.
I love doing the Median but very much dislike working out the Mean.
Which one do you like the best?

Lord Spittleworth Sitting On A Horse - Ickabog By JK Rowling

For our reading this week, we had to go onto her site and choose what illustration we wanted to do for chapters 9-10. I chose to draw Lord Spittleowrth on a horse.
I drew everything by using polyline or scribble and traced the images from google.
This took me around 3 hours altogether. The hardest part was doing his face as it is very small.
What part do you like the most?

Negative Numbers - Level 3 & 4

This week, we are still practising negative numbers, and for our practise sheets, we had to do level 3 and 4 on the website. I found this quite challenging until Miss McCombie helped me with the format and after that, I found it quite easy.
Do you know how to multiply, subtract, and add negative numbers?

Iqbal Masih

For our reading, we had to do a fact file on Iqbal Masih as we are reading a non-fiction novel about him and his 12 years of life.
What slide do you like the best?

Temperatures Around New Zealand - Chart

In our maths group (The Hexagons) we are doing the learning in the 'Curriculum Level 4 Book', and this week we were learning Negative Numbers. One of the activities we had to do was a chart of all the temperatures across New Zealand.
I learnt how to do a chart on google sheet and how you can customise it to your liking. Have you ever done a chart on google sheets?
If not, I could maybe do a screencastify one time.

Vocabulary

This week in our reading we are looking over some words from the novel we are reading.
I have displayed my vocabulary on a google drawing, then I did a screencastify explaining the words, to then read them out to you.
The word that I had never heard of, was 'numbskull' which means stupid.
Have you learnt any words?

Maths Crossword

Yesterday, I did a maths crossword. This maths crossword was not all easy, though. It was so hard that Amy and I worked together, then we needed our teachers help, then we went through 1 maths dictionary, a level 4 maths book, used google, asked everyone in our class, looked at some maths posters and we still could not get the answer!
But, after 50 minutes of hard work Mrs Junghenn got the answer. The answer was 'eight'!
Next week Miss McCombie will find us another one because we enjoyed it.
Are you good at maths crosswords?

Practising Negative Numbers - Maths

In our group, we are learning negative numbers. We then got given a couple of worksheets online to work through, so that it sticks in our head. I managed to get 12/12 on the second time when doing level 1, but on level 2, I got 12/12 on the first go.
Do you know Negative Numbers?

Here is a poster explaining Child Labour.
Do you think Child Labour is acceptable?

Child Labour Emergency Pack

This week for Reading, our focus is child labour. For one of the activities we had to create an emergency pack for one child to use. The maximum of things we could have was ten.
Would you add anything else to the list.

Maths Challenge #2

This is the second lot of the maths challenge activities. These ones were not that challenging, so hopefully next time they will make them harder.
Would you rather complete the honey comb or the multiplication squares?
