Simile and Metaphors

For our writing one of our activities was to write similes and metaphors.
I did it in my writing book and was to just take a photo but it was a little hard to see the writing so I just quickly wrote it out instead.

Simile Switch

This enormous bird had claws as sharp as shark teeth.

It’s beak was as powerful as 100kg blocks falling from the
top of Mount Everast.

It’s wingspan was wider than 100 25metre swimming pools.

It flew like nobody was watching.

The people were as terrified as little worry dolls.

Hautere was braver than its prey.

Metaphor Madness

The enormous bird had razor claws.

Its beak was a ginormous dentist's drill.

Its wingspan was the Mexican wall.

The people were terrified statues.

Hautere is a brave lion.

This is a wanted poster for Zero, it is my chapter chat for this week.

Look!

Today Mrs Wing red us a short story about smart ice cream.
She then got us to do a task where we had to advertise an ice ream flavour.
This is mine.

Des Hunt

This week for book week we got to do an information report of a n author of our choice.
I decided to do Des Hunt, one of my favourite authors.
Here is a picture of Des Hunt.                                       Plus here is one of his books.

Des Hunt

Des Hunt is an author mainly for adult fiction but all his stories relate to
the New Zealand’s wildlife like books about kiwi, taniwha, Stewart island and small towns around New Zealand.
I find Des Hunt fascinating and really easy to read.
Sometimes I find it a little hard to get into it but towards the end I can not
stop reading!

It was the 29th December 1941 when Des Hunt was introduced to Earth.
So that makes him 77 years old (not including this year).
He was brought up in Palmerston North, New Zealand.
As a student he went out 5 schools/ colleges/universities, I find that quite a
lot. You would have thought his favourite subject was English though that
was actually his most disliked. His favourite was Science and before he
started writing novels he actually wrote Science related books that were
non-fiction.

After University he started teaching at Hawera Highschool just up from
Wanganui where he met his wife Lynne.
A few years later they had to children Keri and Neville.
After 7 years they moved to papakura where he taught at Rosehill College.
Their final move was to the Coromandel where he taught at Coromandel Area
School.

His first novel was released in 2002 called A Friend In Paradise.
2007 was when he retired after teaching for 44 years. So far Des has
written 17 books and I bet there is more to come.
Des has been interviewed by so many companies, if you want to see just
search up Des Hunt and have a flick threw. Des Hunt has been so good at
writing books that he has had 5 books as finalists in the book awards.

If you are interested in his reading I recommend Kiwi Killer and Deadly
Feathers and it may take a couple of chapters to be convinced.
On one of his websites it says that he is hopefully going to release another
book with Scholastic in April 2020. He said it is about 2 preschoolers and
their haunting experience in the Canterbury earthquakes.

That might not interest you but I am super excited for that to come out!
